Labor Day is past and everyone who kicks a ball in soccer is into the fall season.
This is the most prolific time of the year in terms of the playing of organized soccer, so we delayed the publication of Down-the-Line Issue #3 to the day after Labor Day.
The Archives are now building nicely and this is one of the main objectives of Down-the-Line.
The E-Mag is designed for everyone involved in community soccer programs. So while DTL has something for everyone, we don’t expect everyone to read … everything! Only those departments that they have a personal interest in.
So as the archives build up, so will the appropriate and specific information for our readers.
And we hope that coaches file away the information -- either electronically or in a printed format – and that it will help them with their players and their teams.
As well, we are very happy for club executives and directors of coaching to be printing out certain articles and handing them out to coaches, managers, parents and anyone else who could benefit.
We’ve had great feedback regarding DTL. When you consider the quality of our contributors, so we should.
The SoccerBiz contribution from the Soccer Solutions guys – Warren Mersereau and Mike Hoban – has been well received by those clubs who really want to make a difference with regard to the operation and upgrade of their clubs.
Ditto for the ITSportsNet team and their club/league management program information.
In this issue we have, courtesy of the English Football Association (FACA) and the National Coaches Association of America, leading authorities Kenny Swain, Dr. Don Kirkendall and Doug Williamson presenting some outstanding information that otherwise would be very difficult to come by.
The NSCAA and the English Football Coaches Association are the two largest soccer coaches associations in the world.
And we have our regular Parent, Referee and Boot Room departments with some thought provoking articles.
In fact, in this issue in the Boot Room you get a 2 for 1 – Brad Odsen and regular contributor, James MacLeod of the Soccer Parent guide fame.
Brad is a soccer parent. Make that a world-class soccer parent. Read the article and you’ll know why.
Rob Walker talks about the importance and difficulty of communication for Goalkeepers.
Also, pass this on to your player as we have our all-important Players Department highlighting a game the pros thrive on – without interference from the coaches!
Enjoy Issue #3. Let us know what you think. Send us an article about your own areas of expertise. Also, let us know what you want more of or what is not yet included that you think should be.
